Word Fit

Part crossword and part word search, the task here is to fit the list words into the encircled squares. Words can read forward, backward, up, down and diagonally and will normally cross other words. You can increase the difficulty by hiding the capsules surrounding the words. Or make it easier by providing hints with a displayed first letter or a percentage of letters.

Missing Vowels

This is a new take on the traditional word search. In this variation all the vowels are missing! So the task is to find the hidden list words using only the consonants. Like the Word Search activity, there are options to place the words in any direction and to allow letter sharing. A variety of grid shapes is also available including frames and holes. And column and row coordinates can be displayed.

Wacky Trails

This activity is similar to Secret Trails. But unlike Secret Trails where each word trail is in its own grid, wacky trails puts all the word trails in a single grid. So the task is to find and connect the trail of letters for each word. The trails can wander up, down, left, right, and, if the option Allow Diagonal Placement is enabled, can wander diagonally. There are also options to make the activity a little easier to solve.

Word Angles

Similar to a regular word search, this activity adds a twist with each word forming a right-angle. Word paths may run north, east, south, or west, will make one right-angled turn, and may cross another word path. It can be made a little easier by indicating the beginning of each word using the option Show Start Bubbles.

Decoder Ring

In this activity the words have been written in code. The task is to use the decoder ring to crack the code and write the decoded word on the line beside the code. The letters in each word have been shifted clockwise or counter-clockwise a specific number of spaces on the decoder ring. The secret code can be different for each word.

Sentence Shapes

Like the Word Shapes activity, Sentence Shapes develops skills identifying words based on the shape (ascending, descending, neutral) of the characters but within the context of an entire sentence. Use the Word Selection editor to select the words in the sentence that should be represented by boxed character shapes. Students then fill in the character boxes with the correct letters according to their shape.

Custom Questions

Custom questions allows for creation of precisely the question you want. No generators for this question type. You provide the questions and the answers. You can use a picture for the question as well as a picture for the answer which means you can use pictures of graphs or tables. The questions are then treated like any other question types in the program with options for font, colors, etc.

Right-to-Left Support

Right-to-left languages are now supported in Vocabulary Worksheet Factory. RTL (right-to-left) layout can be applied to all activities and activity elements including numbering, word lists, clues, and instructions. Please note that using RTL layout with non-RTL languages will likely result in unexpected formatting issues.

Word Cloud

Word Cloud is a new design element that can be used in conjunction with any activity, particularly text activities, as a complimentary element. It could also be used as the focus for a set of custom questions on topics and word usage found in a text passage. Simply add any block of text to the Word Cloud element and the word cloud is automatically created.

New Editor Columns

Two new columns have been added to the word list and sentence editors. The Tag 1 and Tag 2 columns can now be combined with the previously existing Level and Classification columns to further aid in the organization of your word lists and sentence collections.

Enhanced Study Sheet

Now you can provide your students with comprehensive word list study sheets. Add elements from any or all of your data columns including clues, classification, and tags.

Improved Sentence Import

Importing sentences from text files has been greatly improved. The text file can now be a standard text file or a rich text file. Sentences can be parsed and retrieved by line returns only or by line returns and end punctuation. The retrieved sentences can then be previewed and any required changes made.

Word Search Start Bubbles

You can now add start bubbles to your word searches to make finding the words just a little bit easier. Great for younger or challenged students particularly when using multiple search directions.

Document Info

Reference information can now be added to your document that can be viewed without actually opening your document. This makes it a snap to locate a previously saved document that you want to use again. Creation time, modified time, and file size are automatically added.
